Samsung Fascinate has a touch screen. It also has four navigation buttons. Physically, this cell phone has a candy bar shape. However, it is much slimmer. There is nothing extraordinary about its appearance. The case is made of plastic. It has rounded edges. The back has black and gray pattern. Because it is made from plastic, it is lighter. However, the disadvantage of this is that it also seems like a low-end product, which it certainly is not.
The 5 megapixel camera in this phone is at the back. It includes a LED flash. The picture quality is good. Likewise, the video quality is 720p. The phone has regular, i.e., hard buttons for volume control, power, and sleep. These are located on sides. The phone quality is also quite good in this phone. Speakerphones are able to generate clear tone and volume, without any distortions.
The CPU forming part of Samsung Fascinate is 1GHz. It is Hummingbird chipset. The display is Super AMOLED, which is what most of the Samsung's recent smart phones have. The size of this display is 4 inches. The resolution of this screen is 800x480. The display has capacitive touch. Apart from this the cell phone has a RAM of 512 Megabytes. ROM is 16GB, which is expandable to 32 GB. This is possible because of the microSD slot in the device. The 16GB card comes with the package. Samsung Fascinate also has light sensors, and accelerometer. Other sophisticated features that are included in this handset include a GPS system, Bluetooth capabilities, and WiFi features. 2.1 version of Bluetooth has been included in the product. A 3.5 mm headphone jack is available on this mobile, and so is a Micro USB port.
Samsung Fascinate uses Android Operating system. This system does affect the battery life, but this disadvantage is offset a bit by the Super AMOLED screen, which requires less power.
As many critics noted on the other Galaxy S devices, that Super AMOLED display does look pretty cool and stunning. It seems to produce truer, crisp, richer colors than standard AMOLED screens we've seen, and its sunlight performance wasn't completely in adequate and useless, though it was seemingly harder to see than the iPhone 4's IPS display when held side-by-side. It's a very healthy package, but apparently contemporary with the Droid Xs, Nexus Ones, and iPhone 4s of the world. Nothing here is really groundbreaking. We've seen pretty much almost the same mobile phone in three other slightly tweaked designs, but it's keeping up with the others like Joneses just fine when it comes to specifications.
