Samsung Nexus S is another mobile phone from Samsung. Many of the features included in this product are superior to the ones in Nexus one and other handsets manufactured by Samsung so far. It is a standalone android, like its predecessor Nexus one. Developers will be pleased with inclusion of this feature. Google is selling these phones through Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy.
Specifications of Samsung Nexus S phone are similar to other handsets now available in the market, i.e., it has a 512 MB RAM, 1GHz CPU (Hummingbird), and 16GB ROM. Other hardware components include a Super AMOLED screen of 800 x 480 size. This is known as Contour Display. This display is very striking. The camera feature included in this handset is a 5 megapixel one which has a front facing VGA camera also, apart from the normal rear camera. Like other contemporary mobile phones, Samsung Nexus S also has wireless radios built into it. The list of such radios includes quad-band EDGE/GSM, WiFi, and tri-band HSPA. There is a digital compass, an accelerometer, and a gyroscope in this product. Bluetooth 2.1 version with EDR, NFC chip, and A-GPS are also included in it.
The operating system software that forms part of this handset is an Android OS called Gingerbread. This OS is also referred to as version 2.3. Samsung Nexus S has better UI capabilities than the handsets that preceded it. On the whole, the processing speed is considerably higher in this handset.
The product is quite small in size notwithstanding the number of features included in it. Its frame is just about 4.87 inches by 2.48 inches. It is also very slim, only 0.42 inches thick. The design of this device is another thing very noticeable about it. This phone is made from black plastic and it is stylishly curved. Designers have ensured that there is a slight curve, concave to be precise, even on the display side so that the phone can be held easily near the cheek.
The Samsung Nexus S gets some points for its slick design, satisfying performance, and original and authentic Android user interface. But outside of the new Gingerbread OS and a much faster processor, it doesn't offer as many brand new features as users had hoped. All in all its still from Samsung a brand that is tested and still improving.
