Samsung Omnia was launched in 2008. It offered much more than many of the Windows Mobile handsets before it. This GSM phone is loaded with 6.1 version of Windows Mobile. Unlike the cell phones before it, this phone has a 3.2-inch touch screen (WQVGA). This 240x400 resolution screen allows the user to operate the phone with fingertips rather than stylus. This is possible because of TouchWiz user interface, which facilitates many features that are superior to the ones supported by TouchFLO3D. Though the images are of a good quality, they are not as good as the ones that can be generated with WVGA. Even colors are short of expectation.

There is a widget bar available on the screen of Samsung Omnia, ensuring that anything that needs immediate attention gets it in time. There is a mouse pointer, which resembles the optical d-pad in i780. This helps the user to navigate in all directions. It can also be used like the traditional mouse with the desktop. Samsung Omnia uses QWERTY and SureType methods for input. It supports both DivX, and XviD video compression.

This handset has a brushed metal frame. It has only two keys on the front face. These are for sending or ending any input or command. Other keys are located on the right side of the handset. Samsung Omnia provides access to 2G networks only. Quadband EDGE device is integrated in this phone. This handset conforms to HSDPA protocol.

The storage memory in Samsung Omnia is between 8 and 16 GB. This memory is expandable because of the microSD slot. Samsung Vibrant has GPS and WiFi capabilities. Therefore, it is useful while traveling as it can indicate location and generate required maps. Samsung Omnia offers superior multi media features. It includes a 5-megapixel camera, which comes with a flash.

Samsung Omnia comes with a charger, a data cable, a stylus, 2 sets of earplugs, and an adapter (3.5mm) apart from the handset. The stylus is replaceable. The package includes user manual and a software CD.

The Samsung Omnia is a beautiful eye-catching smartphone but in an understated way. It's simultaneously very simple and elegant, with an attractive black-and-slate silver chassis and very slim candy bar design that has a measurement of: 4.4 inches tall by 2.2 inches wide by 0.4 inch deep and weighs 4.4 ounces. While compact and light, it has a nice solid construction and makes feels comfortable to hold and use as a phone.
